DBD’s new crossover with a horror icon adds some of its creepiest skins yet

DBD’s new crossover with a horror icon
Dead by daylight continues to be the number one destination if you want to scare multiplayer horror games. It also has some of the best crossovers in gaming, if you ask me – always either on-point or pleasantly surprising. DBD’s latest collaboration is a skin line inspired by the works of horror manga legend Junji Ito, and they’re some of the most disturbing the game has ever seen.
Announced late last year, this range of eight new Dead By Daylight skins are all based on characters from Ito’s excellent, grotesque and bizarre manga. Whether you’re familiar with his work or not, I’m sure the design of some of these skins alone will make you sit up and get interested. I honestly think some of Ito’s characters deserve to be honored as standalone killers or survivors in the hit horror game, rather than just as cosmetics, but I also appreciate that they may not have not have mainstream appeal like Ghostface, the Xenomorph. , Alan Wake or, uh, Nicolas Cage did it.
The Junji Ito Collection is led by a duo of legendary skins for two of the game’s killers. The first is for The Artist and features the twisted Miss Fuchi from Fashion Model. The second transforms The Spirit into arguably Ito’s most popular and recognizable character, Tomie. Both come with unique audio recordings to make them even more unique and, of course, even scarier.
Three other Killers have been given Ito-inspired skins, but these are in lower tiers and don’t come with the custom audio. The Twins become a grotesque representation of the Hikizuri siblings, The Trickster portrays Soichi with a court jester and voodoo doll type look, and The Dredge gets what might be my favorite skin of the lot, Half Spirits’ Torment, which fuses several haunting bodies and faces to create a walking nightmare.
On the Survivor side, Kate Denson gets a scary ballerina skin inspired by Marionette Mansion, Yun-Jin Lee becomes Terumi from the manga The Hanging Balloons and Yui Kimura gets a makeover to look like Tsuskiko from the Tomie series.
“It’s always a momentous moment when a legend of the horror genre leaves his mark in Dead by Daylight,” says Behavior Interactive of the collaboration with Junji Ito, and once again, the studio has made a great job honoring the source material and creating some truly scary elements. skins.
The Junji Ito Collection is now available in Dead By Daylight. You can check out the artwork for all the skins here.
